Almost four years ago, my Japanese friend and mosaic artist Akiko sent me a collection of her beautiful handmade ceramic tiles with one wish: that I would find a way to incorporate them into my knitting.
And so a creative collaboration began. ✨
I experimented with the colorful tiles and created one-of-a-kind knitted jewelry, bracelets, clutches, bags and other accessories. The tile bracelets became especially popular—and I could hardly make them fast enough!
Today, I have used almost all of those original tiles. The exciting news is that Akiko is making a batch of new colors. I can’t wait to create the next collection of unique hand-crafted accessories and fiber art using ceramic tile.
