Pockets in Knitwear: Earthy Colors & Whimsical Details
Here’s another unique project for my Pockets in Knitwear series. I love polka dots patterns and working with simple shapes, adding whimsical details.
This handmade vest is knitted with a soft wool-blend loopy yarn. I used my favorite motif—polka dots in many of knitwear garments. One of those dots transforms into a functional knitwear pocket.
I chose earthy beige and brown tones, inspired by the future of sustainable fashion. I believe more designs will feature natural colors and eco-friendly materials.
The yarn is soft and cozy, which makes the pocket of the vest unstructured. I added a tiny button for the perfect closing detail.
To finish the look, I made a chunky round bead necklace in matching colors. It ties the outfit together with texture and charm.
This knitting pattern blends decoration with purpose. The polka dot pocket adds a surprise element in the vest.
This work is supported by Long Island Grants for the Arts through funds provided by the office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, and administered by The Huntington Arts Council.
Two more knitwear projects are in the sketching phase. Stay tuned for GalinaCarrollDesigns!
